The Improv Collective is proud to offer improv comedy courses for all experience levels. To help you get the most of your enrollment, we also offer free shows to students for the duration of the class.
Core Track
Improv 101
ENROLLING NOW!
Our Intro to Improv class will teach you the basics of improv and provide you the skill to perform with extreme confidence. The Intro to Improv Class meets on a weekly basis over a 5-6 week period. You will also perform in a class show at the end of the course. Additionally, we want you to benefit from seeing as many improv shows as possible so all shows during your curriculum will be free!
Improv 201
Our 6-week 201 course will build on your 101 skills as we explore increasing emotion on stage, comfort on stage, and making narrative decisions that support longer scenes and provide depth. Completion of Improv 101 or instructor permission is required. This course includes six sessions and a class show. Additionally, all shows during your course will be free!
Improv 301
This class is not currently enrolling. Check back!
Our 6-week 301 course will build on your short form skills as we extend into decision making and choices that sustain long-form scenes and formats. Students will learn to improvise a show with grounded characters, strong relationships, and an underlying narrative. Completion of Improv 201 or equivalent is required. This course includes six 3-hour sessions and a class show. Additionally, all shows during your course will be free!
Sketch 101
This class is not currently enrolling.
Sketch 101 is an introductory course set to teach you the basics of sketch comedy writing. On day one, you’ll learn about the fundamentals of sketch writing. This 8-week course will culminate with one final table read of the best sketches from students that will feature comedic actors from the Improv Collective Community.
Drop-in Classes

Intro to Improv Drop In - Wednesdays
We are excited to offer ongoing, weekly Wednesday Drop-In Classes with rotating teachers! These classes are tailored for students ranging in experience from new to improv to those with a level one or two class under their belt. Our instructors will coach you in scene fundamentals as well as specialty techniques.
These 2 hour classes are “drop-ins,” meaning no tickets are required. Just show up ready to play! Each session costs $10. Hope to see you there!
Long Form ``Rep City`` Drop In - Tuesdays
We now offer a weekly drop-in for students who understand improv fundamentals, but are seeking to get more reps. These classes focus on long form improv and getting experience rather than being lesson based. These classes take place at the Barn.
These 2 hour classes are “drop-ins,” meaning no tickets are required. Just show up ready to play! Each session costs $10.
Advanced Classes & Electives
We offer rotating elective courses for experienced improvisers.
Musical Improv
This class is not currently enrolling. Check back!
We are excited to offer a new Musical Improv class with improviser & pianist Rod Bagheri! Rod will teach you the fundamentals of improvising musical scenes. Previous improv experience is strongly recommended, but no singing experience required. Musical improv is a great skill that will enhance and build on your current improv abilities, and is incredibly fun.
Advanced Scenework
Next Class 2024.
Find the secrets to improving your scenes. Students will hone and develop techniques to generate strong scenes and increase competence on the stage. This class is limited to a small size to maximize direct, personalized, constructive notes to students.
JTS Brown Form
This class is not currently enrolling.
The JTS Brown is a philosophy of play that creates a format best described as “dream-like.” It requires a high level of collaboration and solid scene fundamentals. The Improv Collective is excited to offer this class Monday nights with Josh Heimendinger. The course includes 8 three hour classes and two performances.
