
Sketch Comedy Writing 101

This introductory course will teach you the basics of sketch comedy writing. Learn to shape and polish your creative ideas for the stage or video. You’ll learn about the fundamentals of sketch writing, receive feedback on your work, collaborate with others comedically, and leave the course with sketches of your own authorship.
Each week, come ready to pitch and craft ideas as well as take notes on comedic structure and technique. Be ready and eager to put in some writing time between classes to shape your ideas. This class will culminate with an optional in-person table read in Costa Mesa on Sunday November 5th. Our class enrollment is capped at 10 students, to maximize individual feedback.
WHEN: Wednesdays Septmeber 27 – November 1st (6 weeks)
TIME: 7pm – 9:30pm (If enrollment is 8 students or less, class will end at 9pm)

About the Instructor:
Eric Vue is a director, writer, and performer of the No MSG Added Sketch Troupe (Second City, Chance Theater, STAGES, Improv Collective). He was also a writer and performer on the Westside Comedy Theater house team There Will Be Snacks. He trained in sketch at UCB and improv comedy at Groundlings, IO West, and Westside Comedy Theater. You can see him perform regularly with the improv team Tan Sedan.
